What Poetry means to me

To me poetry is a way for people ,even myself to express themselves. To with poetry you can express so many things just by the rhythm or tone of the poem. I did not care much for poetry until I actually sat down and read a few of them. It was amazing at how much can be told about something in so few words. I also found that songs were very similar to poetry which helped me to appreciate them even more. I have written poetry in the past but I find that I can only seem to do it when I am feeling a little sad. I know it sounds some what typical of what many people think about poets but it is not necessarily true. There are many types of them that I have read that were silly, happy and joyful. Poems do not always have to be sad.
